ABD AL-KADER HABAK

Syrian cinematographer, activist, and documentary filmmaker, he documented six years of the Syrian revolution. Based between London and Syria, his work blends journalism and human rights storytelling, exploring identity, exile, and return. His first feature documentary Birds of War premiered at Sundance 2026 where it won a Special Jury Award as part of the World Cinema Documentary Competition. Currently, he is working on two short documentaries and his second feature, Until the Buzzing Stops.

Janay Boulos

Lebanese filmmaker and documentary producer based between Lebanon and London. She has extensive experience across news, broadcast, digital, and field production. Her first feature documentary Birds of War premiered at Sundance 2026 where it won a Special Jury Award as part of the World Cinema Documentary Competition. She is producing several documentaries for international outlets, including Al Jazeera and The New York Times, as well as her second feature documentary, Until the Buzzing Stops.

Habak Films

A boutique documentary production company setup in 2021 by Abd al-Kader Habak and Janay Boulos.  The company has produced several TV documentaries for al-Jazeera Arabic and has worked on its first short independent film, Her Stories. The company is developing several feature documentaries with a focus on human stories from and about the Middle East and has become a platform for international collaboration and story-telling that links between the West and the Arab region.
